2.1 Blues

Post by xf8u »

Further to my growing problems with my exixting 2.1 I am considering buying another instead. It would be cheaper than a new EPIC pump (which I have just found out is £500+)
The car I have in mind is a runner except the clutch slave cylinder had gone.

How big/easy/expensive is it to replace
Thanks
Mike

Steady.... the hyd clutch assembly is a sealed unit.

And costs.....£250!!

No idea about fitting it, but changing the clutch clip that connects cable operated clutches to the pedal is a well known swine. If you could get the one off your dead 2.1 it might not be too bad overall. However, watch out that it is not the release bearing that has pulled out of the clutch - changing the clutch is no walk in the park either

If it's cheaper than the pump maybe you can get it to get the pump off, and some other spares if your existing 2.1 continues to misbehave... then sell the donor car as scrap (i think the price of scrap is going up, but whether the disposal/dismantling costs would cancel that out is another issue.

Couldn't you fit a mechanical pump from a 2.1 td XM?
