MOT today, is this something to worry about?

Post by TehAgent »

One of my rear spheres wobbles, its not in any danger of falling off the car, but I'm just wondering if the garage is going to fail me on it, its not leaking LHM or anything, and the pipes all look fine.

Can anyone shed some light please? or do i have to get under the car for a quick bit of fixing. I've got until 2:00pm as the car is due in at 2:15am (GMT)

Err,

It shouldn't be possible for it to wobble!! The hydraulic pressure holds the cylinder (and therefore the sphere) locked solidly in place. If it wobbles there is something important wrong.

Is the cylinder wobbling with the sphere ?

I would be finding out what that problem is pronto, MOT or not...

Regards,
Simon

I'm with Simon on this one... wobble isn't good anywhere really, better to investigate prior to the MOT.

I would concur with Mandrake, it can only move when there is no pressure in the system, so I think that must be when you tried it.

Good luck for today Ian. It's a good day for MOTs as my Dads 205 has just flown through :)

Did you resolve your wobbly sphere?

Let us know the outcome please...

well everything is working as it should, but it wobbles its hard to explain, the wheels are fine. they don't move or anything, and rear strut is OK.

I dunno its got me baffled anyway.

If there's no pressure in the system then it will wobble. If the engine is running or there's residual pressure in the system then it won't.

back from me MOT,

It passed with flying colors, though he did say that my front middle sphere was leaking slightly, but not enough to fail me on it, other than that, it was squeaky clean, :D
