Xantia Radio Blues

Post by colouredcob »

Since the battery was diconnected, I haven't been able to enter the code in the Radio/cassette model No 2030
The code number in the back of the user's guide didn't work,
The Citroen Garage came up with the same code off their computer, They told me to get it re programmed.
There is another four digit number in the user's guide but it has a seven and an eight in it and at the end of the four digits it has an arrow then a six,
As far as i am aware the digits only go up to six, Is that right?
Came to a dead end with previouse owner search,
The local car audio shop want about £35.00 plus vat to re program it.
The car is eight years old, And i don't think the R/Cass is worth it.
I've been told that there is another option, there is an adaptor available so a conventional R/Cass can be fitted, What do you think?

I think you are right that the 2030 has code digits of 6 or less due to the way they are input, the 3030 and 4030 can have digits up to 9.
Do you know yours will lock up for a couple of hours if you get the code wrong a few times.
Not just something daft wrong with the way you are inputing it, you are pushing the tuning buttons 1 to 6 to tap out the code number?? Does the display show each number as you key it and what happens after the last one is input?
The 3030 and 4030 are better units though. For £35 I'd go to a scrappy and get a 3030/4030 with the code and new rear speakers for the doors.
Not 100% sure if all the extra wiring is ready in the loom though.
PS: Do you really have a coloured cob?

The Citroen Garage had a fiddle around in an attempt to enter the code but to no avail, They refered me to a local car audio shop that they use themselves to Reprogram.
Yes i have been using the buttons 1-6 to enter the codes that do appear on the display, And i did read that it goes to sleep for two hours if you enter the code incorrectly four times. But that's as far as i get. Yes i have two Coloured Cobs, Fotunatley i don't have to enter any codes to get them to go. Thanks Zoe.

Zoe,
I found this link in an older post...any use?
http://www.davidsonelectronics.co.uk/cardecode.htm
He even uses the Citroen unit as the photo in his header.
Also if your unit is already a replacement often the right code would be written on the casing of the unit if you pull it out from the facia.
Still think I'd go for another unit from the scrappy if nothing works.
One retired CC here plus a young Pinto.

Thanks for that mg I'll be in touch when the Rad/Cass is removed,
shaun the sheep Bet you thought coloured cob was a Citroen model
that you weren't aware of, <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>Had you worried?
Jon the Addy Well done top marks, Like the photo is it yours?
Coloured cobs come in handy when your Citroen's got a flat battery and needs a tow start, Long bit of rope throw the harness on him, Ask him to trot drop the clutch job done. Cheers Zoe.
