EGR + ECU

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi All,
The 99 Xantia HDi 110 I bought recently has developed a fault. The Engine management light light came on, but no loss of power. I had it checked out by local auto electrician. He put a code reader on the car and an EGR fault came up, (which would have turned ECU light on ). Could also be an ECU fault. Big bucks to replace.
The EGR valves are vacuum-electrically driven. I cant see any pipes off, cracked. and as there are two of them side by side, which one would be faulty, if any. How can one test them out, please ?
Thanks
Greg

There should be 3 of those electrovalves on this car one for the turbo wasegate, one for the EGR valve & one for the EGR throttle butterfly.
all 3 are identical & can be swapped around for testing. make sure you dont get any pipes round the wrong way or mixed up.
