Just one quick question (not wanting to hi-jack the thread), is it possible to put an older pump on a 6+2 provided car? So it will lift quicker?

Simon : donno really. I do remember though that we had discussions on exactly that problem. Try a forum search and you may find it. IIRC it would be either the mid or rear block on the drawing. Could it be the single output new style pump fitted to the very first production years of Xantia (& XM) - that had this plastic part - and not the later 2 port pump type ?

Deian : no its not possible to swap early & later pumps, only in theory. You would also need the powersteering flow distributor valve (FDV) with the early pump type. Reason is the powersteering really takes all the pump has got, and then you must separate the circuits. If not you'd drain the brakes & suspension circuit.
