Xantia radio.

Post by goldfinche »

Hello I have a 2-1 diesel 1997 (august) the radio plays audio cassetts but does not apear to support a CD multi changer.
I have a Xantia radio that does support a cd changer But I dont know which model changer I need.
Its a PU-1562A
286-8476-10
96 279399 80
serial number. 0007241.

I would rather not have to get a radio and changer as money is tight and I cant really aford it.
Any help on the model/make needed much appreciated.
Thanks.
Geoff.
I did try a search but I can never get it to work.

Not bad, would be nice if it was powered off the tape sprockets though :)

mp3's???

Post by goldfinche »

Hello Well I have a collection of various records that I have put onto CD's over a period of time and also some audio cassets on CD's as well. Some of it is not obtainable any more.
I know I'm a bit  behind the times having only just caught up with CD's, as regards MP3's I'm afraid I wouldnt know one if it bit me on the b*m.I have a lead (13 pin) for the PU 1562A so the option of picking up a multi changer seemed the answer but I didnt know what model would match.
I was aware that they are not all the same.
jgra 1 thank you, a model number would be good.
Cheers.

Judging by the year, I take it that your Xantia is a Mk1? If that's the case, to be CD compatable it needs to have a '4030' model radio which was only fitted to VSX or Activa's in the UK. In combination with this radio a further harness was also factory fitted which ended in a socket under the drivers seat into which a cable could be plugged in to then connect to a Blaupunkt 10 CD autochanger, Model CDC-05 IIRC.

To work out if one of your radio's is the correct one, the small button at the top left will say 'Mode' and have a loudness button on the bottom row. As far as making up a connecting cable, I believe that this subject was discussed on this forum about a year ago where some solution was found.

I understand that MK2 Xantia radio's (round volume button) are not compatable with MK1 Xantia's when it comes to the steering controls are there are more buttons on the steering wheel MK2 models.

This is the radio you have right?

This page lists the CD changer model numbers

There's a CDC605 on ebay at the moment

ice.dndservices.co.uk links the radio to the cable, and then the cable to the cd changer, but I can't be 100% certain that the three go together.
