broken coolant bleed screw cap

Post by roypch »

Hi

Is it possible to replace the 'bleed screw cap' on cooland hose above the cambelt cover with the tyre valve dust cap. This is the top most one used to bleed air the cooling system.

I lost the screw cap when fiddling with it. pls help !

Same thread, they fit, just use a strong one, tyre pressure around 30 psi, coolant pressure 10 psi, though hot.

Many thanks Stewart ! Big relief to know that dust cap fits and is ok to use.

Is it advisable to use some teflon tape on the threaded fitting and then put this dust cap ?

Thanks

I wouldn't think it would be necessary as the caps have an inbuilt seal.
