I maintain my 2.1TD myself (due to the silly prices garages charge) however my fuel consumption seems to be increasing. I normally got 45mpg or so but this seems to have fallen to around 40 or even late 30s. Apart from winter (no starting car to warm up!) nothing else has changed. THe service manual states to read the 'engine diagnostics' (which I obviously can not do) but would the dealer use this info to 'tune' the engine at all? Can anyone shed any light ?
Also, it feels as tho the anti-sink valve(or is it a sphere) is sticking as the car will sink sharply a few moments after start up/pulling away...any ideas? Its done 89K and as far as I know the spheres have not been touched..
