how to convert kph to mph

can any one remember how to convert kph to mph?,
as i have got something in kph, but would like to know what the speed is in mph.
also how do i convert kilometres in distance to miles.

You will find the formula in your cars handbook,100KM = 62MPH.

jmd is a bit more accurate than my system, but basically if "near enough is good enough" just multiply the first two digiits over 100 by 6 and add a decimal point if under 100.
(ie) 100 kph = 60 mph 80 kph = 48/50 mph etc...
Distance wise, the same equation applies; 50 klms = 30 miles (5.0 X 6 = 30)
Not scientific but at least if a copper has a radar gun pointing at you, you seem to do a mental calculation fast & accurate enough to either save a fine or know for sure that you're gunna get one. <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

best way I use is to divide kph by 8 and multiply the result by 5. i.e. 80kph/8 = 10 * 5 = 50mph..this works for kph or km
to convert ther other way, divide mph by 5 and multiply by 8
