Reading Xantia ECU data? OBDII Compliant?

Post by CitroJim »

I know this has been asked before but seemingly without a concrete answer.

I'd love to be able to interrogate my ECU on the Activa. Not because I suspect anything wrong but out of interest more than anything.

So, is the ECU on a late Xantia OBDII compliant and readable using the "OBDII compliant" readers available on a certain auctuion website for quite reasonable sums of money? Some seem to indicate that it is but the Diagnostic Socket does not look strictly like I would have thought an OBDII socket would? There seems no concrete "Yes" or "No" answers to this question! There is a real dearth of useful information on both this subject and the Motronic MP3.2 management in general.

My lad has a Nissan 200SX and for his ECU we have a dongle and laptop software that gives loads of engine info in real time. Does a similar setup exist for the Xantia?

I have a Sykes ACR 4 code reader which works well on Xantia's including my two Activa's. It provides 'Datastream' information on both the engine and ABS, reading codes on those systems as well as the airbags/belt tensioners.

I'm pretty sure that a 2000 model will be OBD compliant, the socket should be rectangular with one side shorter than the other. If you have the older style, large regular shape rectangle with 30 pins then it won't be OBD compliant.

Sykes ACR 4
Sadly at around £1400 a time, probably out of my reach.

£1400  Its nowhere near that price if you do what I did, buy the Renault tyre pressure monitor kit part no, 30362400 new, for around £175 which will give you the handset. Sell the Renault pod/lead on Ebay and buy the PSA V5 pod + lead for a similar amount then buy the ABS pod/lead job done. I'd be very suprised if you couldn't get the whole kit sorted for a maximum of £300.

I don't have any experience of C5's yet, I have however used it successfully on the wife's 2.0 Hdi Picasso and my 'old' 04 Berlingo 2.0 Hdi.
I've just taken a look at the compatability chart and the 2.2 Hdi isn't listed, having said that, there are more up to date versions available.
