CX Gti turbo 2 on ebay

Post by deian »

Hi,

Item number: 120088597189

I'm sure I've seen that picture somewhere on these forums before?

Anyway, THAT is a nice car, shame it don't have the bubble leather, i'd sell my kidney if it had them. Still tempted though.

Enjoy.

Hi Deian. The auction pics are fine - I posted these elsewhere (can't recall
where now!!) from the guy's last auction listing, for someone who needed to
be shown how nice a CX looks!!

I have a near identical car myself and it's MOST DEFINITELY my best
CX - and to be honest I don't think it needs leather seats - the velour GTi
trim is fabulous anyway. With this particular car I'd nail down what the state
of the clutch is - IIRC the last auction mentioned a slipping clutch and he
lists the car running on it's original one in THIS auction.

Nice though, but it needs a few quid on the clutch job...

Andrew

<edit>

Sorry Deian - god knows what made me think I was writing a reply to
Ciaran... confusing myself jumping forums again!!

I also recall the reserve wasn't met at well over 1750...

come to think of it, it may have been in the low 2k range. I can't find the old ebay auction at the mo!

IT'S NOT EXACTLY ROCKET SCIENCE!

OK, it'll be a bit of a squeeze getting it in/out of the engine bay if you leave the ancillaries fitted...

I'd do it for £500!!

You do a CX clutch swap on a salty, rusted, seized pommy car for 500quid ????

You'll spend that much just trying to extract/replace all the corroded fasterners

Seriously, it's not a bad job, but you are looking at several days of solid work given the hurdles you will no likely encounter (eg: seized fasters, bearings you can't remove do to rust, alloy grown into bolts etc...). Or is this just expected with all cars when you live in the UK ??

and of course, lots of old Citroens, slowly rusting away in pieces ;)
