C5 chip tuning
Does anyone have any experience of fitting a chip tuning box to a 2.0 hdi diesel C5 110bhp?
I've run a box from http://www.psipowerbox.com/ for the last 45,000 miles. Economy unchanged (maybe slightly better when cross country), power up a lot, engine smoother and more fun to drive.
Easy to remove, but I doubt your 2.0 HDI 110 will still be in warranty.
It passed the MOT twice while tuned, but could always be removed.
I'd change the air filter and oil & filter more frequently, and let the engine warm up before using the power!
Any other questions just ask!

Currently driving a 2004 C5 VTR (old shape) and an Electric Kia Soul. Sorry but the electric one is my favourite!
Formerly Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6, 2 x Kia Optima, 2 x C5, Xsara and Saxo.

Be careful!
Some work by varying the amount of fuel entering by intercepting the signals to the injectors (PSI), others work by increasing the pressure in the common rail. Increasing the common rail pressure may reduce the life of the pump and other components.
I think you get what you pay for. Find out exactly how the box fits and how it works.

My 2.2 Hdi seems slow and is thirsty. I'm getting 34.9 mpg on the trip computer at the moment and it seems to hit a wall at just over 90.
It's a comfortable car to drive but the performance is very dissapointing.
I've been thinking about a power box for some time now. But, I don't think my set up is all that it should be so, I don't want to throw money at the cost of a power box until I'm happy with the way it runs now.
Has anyone got any suggestions on what I could do to make sure its running well as standard.
Could it be my airflow meter ? My lambda probe ? The air filter is clean.
Does anyone know what the turbo boost pressure should be. I've not measured it yet but I've got a boost gauge ready and waiting.
Thanks for any suggestions.
cheers,
Kev

I had my 406 110 re mapped to aproxx 140 bhp.The only down side is it cannot be removed, unlike a tuning box.But the results are great.Mpg is improved by about 5 mpg overall.Engine will pull from about 1000 rpm in 4/5 th gear, really starting to take off around 1600 rpm.Its a lot better than before, where it was quite flat untill 1800 rpm & i had to work the gears more.Have to watch it a bit in the wet, even the dry if pulling away quickly,as its quite easy to spin the wheels when pulling out of a junction etc. After 4 mths i still cant get the smile off my face.I had it done from a guy off Ebay who really knows his stuff.Well worth the £175 it cost.

Thanks for the replies,
np.. I remember you telling us it was a guy in Wombourne, Wolverhampton. He quoted me 295 quid for my 2.2 Hdi.
bencowell.. I've looked up Bosch service centres near me and emailed 3 of them to ask what they could do for me.
cheers,
Kev
