I'll just stick my bib in here with a thought.
I can remember vaguely that the later Xantias and the early C5s had this characteristic. Over here, they used to replace a solenoid and do a software update, so I'd suggest someone with a contact in a Cit dealership might be able to have a word to someone in there and ask the question, as to me it sounds like there's a common thread.
I doubt at this point that they would be doing anything under warranty, but at least it would anser a question that it seems many are asking and from there we might find a solution.

A couple of comments:
Wouldn't the problem have always been there if a software change was needed?
"Sealed for life" really means "We hope it lasts before the inbuilt eat-by date that the designers have come up with, then we can tout this as a selling point for the sans-culottes."
Autoboxes are expensive, fluid is cheap. Verb sap.

I have made tentative enquiries at my local Dealer.... and have only had blank non-comprehending looks and 'dunno mate' book it in and we'll rip you off err I mean we'll run a diagnostic..
