airbag light and MOT

Post by deian »

Hi,

Does the airbag need to work for the car to pass the MOT? Or is it an advisory?

And it just passed again with the same fault ... didn't even get an advisory :D

Like you said Neil, you can get it to work for a while but it keeps coming back :?

I dont know what it is with me & air bag lights Steve, but the light AND warning buzzer came on on the 406 last week. Was on for about 5 days  .Touch wood,it seems to have cleared now & has behaved normally for over a week now.

A Xantia wont have a warning beep sound for the airbag fault.

A multiplexed car will though, dash warning light will come on, warning message up on the display & a lovely BEEP BEEP BEEP from the COM2000

Does the same for ABS faults too ( I was having a play  )

Thats right Powerlee.For the others,the 406 has a central display,with MPG,trip,out side temp,time & date,sat nav.It also displays warnings,like "airbag defective",& "fuel level low" when the gauge light comes on.Also "door open" etc. :)

I like it when it has 2 or 3 messages to show you, or you open the door & shut it again & it starts scrolling through.

Ive had up at different times so far on the 206.

ICE ALERT
FUEL LEVEL LOW
ENGINE IMMOBILISER FAULT
ABS FAULT
AUTOMATIC WIPING ACTIVE
AUTOMATIC HEADLAMPS ACTIVE
PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATED

Also has the pretty picture of the car & what door / boot / bonnet is open
