im about to have the cambelt changed on my 94 1.9td xantia. does this require the tensioner being changed if it appears in good condition? the car has done 110k

Depends how often you change the belt. I like to change them every 35K so if the bearings feel and sound OK I don't change the tensioner. If you don't intend changing the belt for another 75 to 80K miles, it might be best to renew. Tensioner is around £40.
