C5 / XANTIA REAR SUSOENSION ARM BEARING

Post by bordercars »

I have looked at www.citroen-pr.net and it would seem that the C5 uses the same bearing as the xantia, xantia 2, and bx saloons as the part numbers match, does anyone know if the kit required to change the bearings is the same, reason , i can get a bearing kit from my local M/Factor for the xantia etc but the C5 is not listed.

I suppose you know that the Xantia saloon and the Xantia estate models have different bearings. The estate are slightly larger.

The BX & Xantia (saloon) rear arm (pr side) repair kits contains the following bits :

1) bearings (2 ea.) : 75.472.408 - ARM BEARING
2) seals (2 ea.) : 5154.14 - SUSP ARM SEAL
3) thrust cups (2 ea.) : 5133.20 - BEARING BUSH
4) spacer tube : 5132.52 - SUSPENSN SPACER
5) plastic sleeve : 5179.12 - SEAL PROTECTOR
6) bolt : 5132.44 - ARM SHAFT
7) locknut : 6939.63 - SELF LOCKG NUT
8 ) washer : 4712.28 - PLAIN WASHER

Items 1, 2 & 5 are identical for the C5
The following items are different on the C5 :
3) (thrust cup) : 5133.26 BEARING BUSH
4) (spacer tube) : 5132.68 SUSPENSN SPACER
6) (bolt) : 5132.67 WISHBONE BUSH
7) (locknut) : 3739.18 SELF LOCKG NUT
8 ) (washer) : none

Observe any thin washer(s) near the thrust cups, as this (these) would adjust the preload on the bearings.
The repair kit is available from GSF and is MUCH cheaper than purchasing the bits from Citroen. But this may not hold true because of the bits differing for the C5.
