Post by paco »

i drive a 1996 xantia 1.9 td, and the tacho has stopped working, does anyone know how to go about repairing it, where does it get its signal.

It gets its signal from a sensor at the top of the flywheel. You should find a two pin connector at the end of the cylinder head just above the bell housing. You will likely find that it had a poor connection, pull it apart, scrape the pins and apply some grease, hopefully that should cure it. If not it may be the sensor itself has gone open circuit, if you have a meter measure the resistance, it should be fairly low, probably less than 100 ohms.
