Post by rg »

I have an intermittant problem with th eanti-sink valve sticking on my S2 XM.

Derek W fromt he Club XM Forum advised that Mandrake had stripped one and given details on this forum.

Are you here, Mr M.?

Hi Mandrake,

Mea culpa. you may well get some calls soon about rusting strut tops as well!

Sorry guys,

I've never stripped down an anti-sink valve before. (Never needed to, they work perfectly on all our Xantia's!) I have stripped down Hydractive 2 electrovalves though (and posted pictures here) so perhaps that is what Derek was thinking of ?

Simon

Ouch! You're right Simon, confusion on my part. Don't know whether it's old age or too many sherries.

Sorry rg, I gave you false info. But while you're here have a look at all the suspension postings, you should find some interesting stuff.

Did you ever carry out the check that I suggested to try to prove if the a/s valve is sticking?

Thats ok,

I didn't even make the connection that Frenchleave == Derek until after I wrote my post

Oh, and whats that about rusting strut tops ? I havn't had any experience with that either - over here in New Zealand the strut tops don't rust (at all) but the rubber cracks and perishes and eventually gives way! :(

Derek,, not yet, as car in regular use by Mrs G.

I was outsid ethe car when "something" cycled yesterday, and it makes quite a heavy-duty "clunk", hydraulic-sounding, rather than electrical. This was accompanied by the suspension going "soft".
