Xantia alarm switch - How does it work?!

Post by Jacob2112 »

Don't laugh! I have a 1997 xantia 1.9Td Desire. The alarm silencer does not have a key facility as far as I can see...it looks like I should push the rubber button on the top!!
I've disconnected and reconnected the battery a couple of times (first time at 11pm!) and the neighbours aren't happy!! I've only just discovered the switch, so what do I do next time I want to disconnect.

Help!!

Thanks

Hi there.. I have a 93tdsx, and the alarm switch is on the n/s under the bonnet just in front of the windscreen. When I first saw it, it looked like a button but I the top pulls off like the top of the washer bottle to reveal the key slot. -I hope (for your neighbours' sake) this is how yours works !
Best wishes, Martin
I won't do that again

I know where you're coming from Martin to be fair, but the later models
don't have the same key barrel on the scuttle panel below the windscreen
as the earlier ones.

I've not found one anywhere on my 97 VSX, although the alarm most
certainly works!! I've found if I connect the battery with the ignition already
switched on the alarm wont sound and the lights don't flash.

The button you mention Jacob sounds like the impact/accident engine cut
out tumbler switch reset.

Andrew

ps: I cannot find my latest model handbook - the one's I've got expect you
to use the alarm switch off on the scuttle - great if you've got one...
