Unlocking keypad immobiliser

Post by philhoward »

I've heard (from reading about Xantias, I think) that the keypad immobiliser can be "bypassed" or turned off to save keep putting the code in every time. I'm about to install an alarm with 2 immobiliser circuits and probably replacing the current immobiliser diesel pump with a non-immobilised one from a Xantia (but later on), so wont need the Cit keypad one.

Can this be done on a ZX TD? I thought i'd read that changing the code to "0000" does it, but I just have to enter 0000 instead! Is it a peculiarity of petrol cars instead, or only cars with ECUs?

The way to do it is to turn on the ignition , enter the code, start the engine (to ensure the correct code has been entered) then unplug the code pad job done.
