BX19 lower ball joints, help

BX19 lower ball joints, help

I give up, if someone can help much appreciated,im trying to do the lower ball joints on my bx 16 valve mk2 jacked it up taken wheel off bought the special socket and it wont budge is there a knack for these ive used a torque wrench heated it up, any ideas

Soak with loads of penetrating oil, plus gas is the best one, blunt nine inch chisel or other suitable heavy punch and a 4lb hammer, these things need alot of shock to get them moving, suport the arm with a block of wood or remove it and get it on a sturdy bench.

Use the socket to screw the new one back in, unless its extremely high quality it might have its lugs shear off before the old joint moves.

Mine had to be done also but due to potential hassle and low cost at garage, I had mine done rather than tackle myself. It took the bloke about 10 minutes (if that) so labour shopuld be minimal and the part should only be around £20 - £30. Of course, the garage had the tool AND compressed air...easy life
