leaky saxo sunroof

Post by tacka »

i just bought a saxo vtr and realised the sunroof is leaking rain around the indoor light. It does this especially when i hit the brakes hard when i am driving. I opened the sunroof and had a look if there were any blockages and couldnt see any. could it need a new sunroof seal?
any help would be considered
oh and does anybody know where i could get cheap insurance as i was told it was cheap to insure, i have been quoted around £1000 even tho i am 27 and have a yr no claims discount and no convictions

are you sure it ain't leaking in through the aerial base ? pop out the interior light & look for sings of water where it bolts on,its very common.if it is its just a matter of undoing the 8mm nut remove the base and applying some sealer then refit.if it is the sunroof seal then you could try sealing it back in place (it usually pops out)but it dosent usually last very long. £1000 for insurance for a 27 year old ? where do you live,in Compton ???

thanks for the tip i'll try that
by the way i live in aston, but i've been quoted only 5% less when i gave a n.london address. its wierd that considering i've heard its a low insurance group for a vtr, might have to consider selling the vehicle if i cant get cover at around £700 mark at TPFT

Tacka,
Hello mate, that insurance sounds a bit steep!! I'm 27 and until May this year i had a Saxo VTR (2000 Vreg') it cost me about £330 fully comp (clean licence) although i live in a York postcode. I was insured with Citroen isurance, give them a try on this number; (0870) 0242403, this is the renewal line number but i'm sure they can point you in the right direction. I am still insured with them for a two year old Xantia, Citroen insurance quoted me £250 cheaper than everyone else!! As for the sunroof seal, i would go with a new one if it is possible to remove it, although mine did not seem a very tight fit when it was new, i never had any leaks.
Hope this may be of some help, Rich.

Thanks for the insurance no i'll try that but i got a quote for £660 TPFT from performance direct and took it. If i get a cheaper quote at full comp then i guess i'd have to cancel the other one.
