Post by KevMayer »

Hi,

I think it's time I replaced my spheres.

Where can I get the details of all the spheres needed for the Activa ?

cheers,

Kev

Right - the only reference I've got is a French L'Expert Automobile
and my technical french translation isn't brilliant...

Assuming it's a petrol 2.0i turbo as you're in the UK...

MAIN principal accumulator: 400 volume/62bar/no jet

Front corner x2: 450 volume/45bar/0.7jet
Rear corner x2: 400 volume/30bar/0.7jet

Hydractive centre front: 450 volume/75bar/1.1jet
Hydractive centre rear: 400 volume/55bar/1.1jet

Front auxillary SC CAR accumulator: 400 volume/62bar/no jet
Rear accumulator regulator SC CAR: 400 volume/30bar/no jet

Hope this means something for you - fact is, looks like on an
Activa you've got 9 of the blighters in the car's suspension!

Gsf's listing:

N45304 ACCUMULATOR SPHERE XANTIA ACCUMULATOR 19.50
N45335 SPHERE-FRONT XANTIA ACTIVA >12/97 19.50
N45338 ANTISINK SPHERE-REAR XANTIA ACTIVA (ONLY) ANTISINK 19.50
N45338B SPHERE-RE XANTIA ACTIVA ALL 19.50
N45338D SPHERE-RE CENTRE XANTIA ACTIVA ALL 19.50
N45338F SPHERE-RE BALANCING XANTIA ACTIVA 19.50
N45354 SPHERE-REAR CENTRE XANTIA HYDRACTIVE CENTRE 19.50

Now there seems to be some difference with GSF's 'anti sink' and what the manual calls the auxillary accumulator...

Hope all this helps - I'm not there yet, but I'll need to sort mine soon too!

Thanks for that.

There's 10 spheres altogether.

My rear end feels too bouncy. I think I need to strip down my hydractive system electrovalve and clean it. Mandrake did a great description of this a few months ago.

I'm also thinking about filling with hydraflush for 1000 miles.

Well it'd be 10 spheres if I included the last one on that diagram I've got in
my "incomprehensible" french manual! It lists it as another middle
rear and SC.MAC - accumulator 400volume/50/no jet.

Glad I've not had to get to grips with this lot yet - looks expensive! Possibly
the real reason the cars are being sold for low amounts and scrapped by folk
on ebay... :x

My rear end on my Activa is very bouncy, the whole car feels dangrous. Its time for a sphere renew on my car. Citroen quote well over £1000 for all 10 spheres to be changed about a month a go.

This is the sphere table

1 Problem. GSF NO LONGER sell the front hydroactive and balancing activa sphere  SO you can only get 8 out of the 10. The 2 spheres from citroen that gsf no longer stock will cost almost as much as all 10 "compatable" ones would from GSF

Interesting to see the centre sphere figures are actually a bigger volume &
higher pressure for the French manual listing than those on the GSF listing -
there's a few common figures - the normal accumulator matches the activa
rear one although the 400 volume/30bar/no jet must be the awkward one
to find!?

It's times like this I'm glad I've got a sphere recharging kit...

They stopped selling these spheres, even though there are many Activas on the road still, and despite it being a small item which does not require much shelf space, so who ever decided that not selling them was a bright idea, should actually think it over, and review that daft decision.

Good news for you in that I've just spoken to a company called Frogbitz/Eurocarcare (based in Derby 01332 345869) who can supply all of the Activa sphere's.

Apparently the sphere's are made by a Belguim based company called I.F.H.S. and come with a 2 year warranty. I was quoted a price of £35.25 each or £30.55 for a complete set with postage @ £7.64.

Has anyone experience or heard of I.F.H.S. sphere's?

I'd still go for a 3 year warranty with Westroen for recon spheres - especially as i've heard mixed reports about "3rd party" spheres. Theirs are £25 each with either free fitting or free delivery. I know which option i'd choose!

I'd second that from Phil regarding Westroen. I've just transformed my Xantia by having Westroen fit all six reconditioned spheres for £150. Gone is the bouncy ride. The difference is almost unbelievable - as the spheres lose their charge, you don't notice until the ride is really bouncy, it sort of creeps up on you.

This is the second time I've used Westroen, and can't recommend them highly enough. If you can make the trip over, it really is worth it. An hour and a half and the job was done. Certainly easier than doing it yourself.

They are in south Manchester, but make an appointment prior to travelling.
