Xantia front strut

Xantia front strut
Hello, I've got a Xantia 1.9TD vsx, earlier today the front passenger side strut came up through the inner wing, the car looks fine no rust or rot, it looks as if the strut broke away from the square plate/bracket that bolts it to the car up inside the front wing, Do I need to replace the hole strut or can it be stripped and this square plate/bracket be replaced on it's own.
Thanks for any help,
Fangy.

Thanks for getting back to me, It happened just as I was about to pull out the drive, I heard a bang, got out the car and had a look but couldn't see anything at first, so I lifted the bonnet and that's when it really went bang and the strut shot up through the inner wing, so i managed to save the bonnet, I priced a full new strut from GSF they want £142 +vat, I'll phone them tomorrow about the price of a strut top, but if it comes to it and I get one from the scrappy, is all models inter-changable, reading through the link from andmcit it would seem they are, but I'm just checking, also can the top of the strut be changed with the bottom still connected to the car?
Thanks again,
Fangy.
Thanks again,
Fangy.
Bear in mind the VSX has a different strut top to most other Xantiae as it's
pipe feed is a much larger bore diameter than the normal 3.5mm.
Damned hard to find as I've been on the lookaout for ages. Guess £100
apiece new from Citroen is the only answer.
Andrew
How can I tell a vsx from any other model in the scrappy, is it just the bore of the pipe thats different, or is there any other more recognizable differences? after talking to the scrappy guy's on the phone, I don't think they know what models they've got.
Fangy.
Is the feed pipe the solid pipe at the top of the strut?

Hi Fangy. That's right, the pipe is the one that attaches to the strut top angled
towards the top from the engine bay bulkhead and is about 12mm diameter.
The ONLY way to determine what scrappy's have is to ask how big the pipe
going into the strut's top actually is - it'll be abvious when you've seen one
against the other!
Vsx's will have alloys and usually the earlier models up to around P will have
a tartan pattern interior which IS memorable for the usual yard mentality...
The only other giveaway if these have been removed is the switch for the
hydractive AUTO - SPORT beside the gearleaver which some folk recon
actually alters the mode of the gearbox...

Hi - sorry, wasn't trying to confuse - it's probably why nobody ever
manages to get the right part from Citroen!! The guy in the parts dept
has as much [if not less!] idea than the rest of us...
The sphere bracket is the sphere top - the black enamelled part
that the sphere is threaded onto - there's some great pictures
in the thread:
http://tinyurl.com/omdjd
that LeeDJC posted.
The listing you'll need to concentrate on is the:
02 5271 E2
LEFT SPHERE BRACKET - POWER STEERING AND HYDRACTIVE SUSPENSION
+ 5271 92 (01) TO O 6610 - POWER STEERING AND HYDRACTIVE SUSPENSION
+ 5271 92 (01) TO O 7244
The 5271 E2 is the part number with all the information listed below
the same part listing! The RP [Replacement Part] numbers show the
suitabilty for the rp numbers shown in that range listed.
The ES9J4 is the Activa active anti roll system that uses the same
Hydractive design as the VSX but I guess is adapted with differences
in the internal bores of the LHM oilways or whatever!!
