In my humble experience there are only 2 x tools for removing the spheres.

One is the chain wrench as pictured, but if you are thinking about getting one, only get the Vice Grip make, all others will snap!!

The other is the Pleiades band wrench, had mine for years, especialy handy for the CX fronts, as you will not get a chain wrench around them because of restricted access.

Would this one break ?
You could probably use this to remove the car from the sphere.

I use this Sykes Pickavant band wrench:
http://www.sptools.co.uk/catalogue/inde ... ord=038300

It has the advantages that you can get it really tight with a spanner, it stays in place without being held, you can belt it with a hammer  , and spare bands are available (I've only ever broken one though, and that was when I had to use the entire weight of the car to remove a rear sphere!)

I've got the "baby" version of one of these...shove a scaffold pole on the end and Robert is your mother's brother...

With a long enough pole on the end of it you can break anything :D

Very interesting photo, but if you need this tool to open that can of cola, then perhaps you should be taking more exercise!

Pete:
If you haven't already bought a sphere removal tool, have a look at my post about Quality Chain Wrenches going cheap on eBay.

I've got one of these and I'm well pleased with it. Record specialise in chain wrenches --- they make the giant wrench shown above.
