Problem with Fan Blower ?

Post by pikecrazy »

A strange one this...........

The blower for the windscreen etc decided to come on its own , full power never touched it.

Anyway i cannot turn it off other than pulling the fuse .

Any ideas what i can do to fix this problem :?:

Yes... common 'characteristic'. It will be the heater blower resistors which can be replaced with a little bit of drilling and soldering (easy stuff) The motor is located in the passenger footwell under the glovebox just a few screws and it's out..... LOTS and LOTS of posts on getting the right resistors and pics of how to do it on here, just use the search facility... if you get stuck I have done it several times and even have spare resistors if you need help!

But if it's got climate control it will either be a fault with the transitors in the fan controller, or possibly the internal temperature sensor in the dash.

I believe that a year 2000 HDi will be fitted with Climate control and my money is on the Blower Resistors

They are actually 'transistors' and they usually go intermittently open circuit, so it works sometimes. It sounds as though yours have gone short circuit, which would result in continious flat out operation. Type No at the bottom of my signature.
