leaking header tank

drove approx 200miles yesterday in my 2.1td xantia ran nice and cool and i checked water when i got back and it hadn't lost any today after a run i noticed some water dripping turns out that the header tank is leaking around the join, it appears to be made in 2 halfs has anyone come across this problem before :(

I'd be surprised if it's made in two parts. Maybe what you're looking at is the mould joint seam.

This is a very common fault (sorry! characteristic) and it isn't unknown to get thro' several in the life of a vehicle..

definatly looks as though it's made in 2 halfs, i've ordered one £40+vat dealer only part, bit of a rip off for a plastic bottle i bet it doesn't come with a cap as well, dealer reckoned he had never heard of one going before.

The CX had a sphere header tank which suffered exactly this same problem.
Also the earlier BX washer fluid tanks are prone to this problem.

Header on my Xantia was replaced just before i bought it, that had split!

I think I may have the same problem, coolant drips out near the foglight when I filling it and when it gets hot. Traced it to below the header tank. Ca it be repaired though?

Epoxy repair should do it.... not sure I would be prepared to chance it though.
