Good buy?

Post by Jade Falcon »

Now this is a bit vague, but when walking to the local Citroen dealers the other day I saw a couple of the cars out on the forecourt which seemed well priced. I couldn't see what year they were as they had 'display' plates on them, but I assume they were fairly new.

First off was a Xsara Picasso, for £5495, which for a vehicle like that seemed quite cheap.

Secondly was one of the larger new Citroens, I'm not sure if its the C5 or C6, again, nearly new, for £3495.

Do the C5's have a large depreciation? This seemed quite cheap for such a car. I hadn't seen the mileage on either vehicle, so for all I know, they could have been well used repmobiles.

Yep, they have HUGE depreciation. I paid £3995 for my 02 C5 2.0i Estate, one owner, 35000 miles FSH. Apparently it was just under £17k new, so it lost £13k in just under 4 years  Great value for money

I'm not totally sure if it was a C5 or a C6 from the angle it was, plus I was more intent on getting some LHM fluid :)

Even for a C5 it seemed fairly cheap.

Well I'm sorry if I got it wrong, my mind was on other things at the time, but it was a nice looking car. Unfortunately, I wonder if Citroen ever checked out the history of a Mr Clive Sinclair when it was thinking in the name of one of its newer cars. :D

In fact Citroen are re-cycling one of their names from about 1928.

Isn't the giant American transport plane the Galaxy listed as a C5 as well?

Forget the problem with the C5 name, its the "sea-sick's" that's got the unfortunate name!
