V6 W reg water leak
Hi i seem to have a leak in the engine bay but only when i put the fan on it drips somewhere around the right hand side about halfway i cant see where it leaks from my first xantia dont know engine at all
When you put the fan on?? Are we talking Heater Blower Fan then?
Have a look around the expansion bottle... they are known to leak at the joint which runs around the middle of the bottle. Cant see what either the Heater Blower Fan or the Radiator Cooling Fans would do to cause a water drip tho'.
Your first Xantia and you bought a V6..... How brave

To be honest I can't think of a possible connection.... the Heater Blower Fan is located underneath the passenger glovebox and is accesible from the passenger footwell.... It isn't connected to the water system, it just blows air across the Heater Matrix.. Just a thought, is the drainage channel clear of debris (located nearside just below the front windscreen). If this gets blocked perhaps water gets thrown by the Heater Blower Fan... A long shot I know, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.
By the way... whereabouts in the UK are you located??

I agree with Dave, move the airflow slider away from the windscreen position and the aircon will turn off unless you manually switch it on with the aircon button. When the slider is in the screen position the aircon is automatically cut in to clear the screen quicker.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Im in Leeds i cant understand it i thought same no water passes the heater fan/ condensation i thought but theres a continual fast drip when fan is on/ happens with air con on or off/ turn fan off it stops / does the heater matrix do anything different when i put the fan on ive only had the car 4 months but its had a new matrix, seals and antifreeze less than a year ago new radiator 6 months ago and an expansion bottle 18months ago
Are you sure?? Mine doesn't!!Stempy wrote:When the slider is in the screen position the aircon is automatically cut in to clear the screen quicker.

If you can collect some of the water and discover that it is clear water (not coloured coolant) than this is just the normal condensate from the A/C running off. It does the same on all cars fitted with A/C.

Nope! Tried it earlier today just to be sure.... the compressor only kicks in once I activate the A/C button!!
