What colour is my xantia?
Hello Citroen fans,
can anyone help me and tell me what colour my xantia is? On the logbook it just says 'red'. The picture below isn't a too bad representation.
Sort of a pearlesent rusty browny red.
Cheers

Check for the paint code under the bonnet - it'll be a five letter code written in yellow or white paint starting with KJ or EH.
Then check here:
http://www.ppg.com/MaxMeyer/CarColourRa ... n/1999.PDF
It will either be 'rouge d'enfer perl', 'rouge hermes' or 'rouge pivoine perl' if the car was made in 1999.

Ahhh - yes - thats a red Xantia allright.
Must say I prefer them in dark racing green - envy green
Seriuosly :
In engine bay - car's LH side - near the strut tower - you should find a 3 (capital) letter code stencilled. Sometimes the 3 capital letters are followed by 2 minor letters. The code may be hidden under any ducting, cable bundles, air filter hosuing etc. etc
The complete code has a size approx half the size a pack of cigarettes - easy to recognise.
The complete code identifies exactly what colour/shade/variant the paint is. Your local paint dealer will have a catalogue with all codes listed - and a matching setup code for his auto paint mixer.
PS : some later models have the paint code as well on the vehicle identifier plate - or on a separate plate on the front cross member.

IF it isn't the normal Citroen straight red, and more a copper orange off red hue as pictured, I think it's a nice colour - quite unusual; I've not seen another one like it!
As Malcolm says, the paint code lettering will be on the bulkhead which I think would be white on this ground colour (only black on a silver/white/pale gold Xantia).

Thanks for the pointers will go and have a look.
It does seem pearlesent as I went to halfords got the lad to bring the colour chart out and the colour it looked closest too was 'newport orange necra' , but in a different angle it looked like 'wicked red'.
It might of faded or something too. Will look underbonnet and report back.
thanks again everyone

I've got the paint code in the same place on my s1 & S2's. In fact, the same paint code for the popular ERYCR green is the same on my 1993 VSX and my 1998 Exclusive!! Obviously folk as well as Citroen liked it!!
I'd have thought Wicked red would be more post box red as seen on the Activas - This colour looks more sophisticated if it isn't the doom maroon that got used on a shed load of Xm's and early chevrons-on-the-bonnet Xantias!
