LHM or Spheres - which to change first?

Post by awg2 »

I need to to both of these jobs. I am guessing that changing LHM first and then the spheres is better than the other way around.

Alternatively is there any problem with draining, changing spheres and then refilling (assuming I can do all 8 spheres in one session)?

You will evidently spill some LHM when replacing the spheres.
Why dont you do the job in one go ?

Replacing the LHM will not give better ride. It s just a precaution against larger future system problems.
Replacing the wheel spheres will solve any hard suspension issues - provided the normal ride height is achieved on engine start.

Thanks Anders - my LHM is not very green and my ride is not very floaty so it looks like the double.

There's a good chance changing the sphere's will get crud into the system so you'd be contaminating the good clean fluid if you've done that first!!

Mind, never understimate the improvement made with replacing the brown crud for the good stuff, although as Anders says, flat spheres will still remain flat!!

the AMTEC spheres that GSF sell come with an advice slip stateing they are not coverd by the warenty if you dont replace the fluid when you fit new spheres, also if you fluid is brown the filters in the tank will not let the fluid flow properly so this can cause faults

None of the spheres I have bought fron GSF have had any sort of paperwork - I just had the green globes with a felt pen GSF part code written on them.

all the spheres i buy for myself and my customers that come to me in AMTEC boxs always have this advise slip in the box,im not saying i always clean the system as i belive it depends on how clean the fluid is to whether this needs doing
