Age/mileage of cars are always good pointers to possible problems.

Have you got the engine fault lamp on too ?
How about fuel consumption - normal ?
Any service/repairs done lately ?
Have the car been regularly serviced at prescribed intervals ?

Remember : we cant see or testdrive your car 8)

Your symptoms sounds like an ignition problem - but these are most common on hot engine only.

Hi Again ,

I am unsure i just bought the car last week and it aint right .

It normally is when it is hot but occasionly when cold .

If i leave it idling and then rev it over 5000 revs it cuts out almost everytime .

As for any dashboard lights on . there isnt any .

I have it booked in for a diagnostic test this afternoon so will let you know what if any problems it finds .

cheers kieran :D

Hi again ,

The guy at the garage tested it and reckons its the map sensor ?

Does this sound like the likely culprit before i go get a new one .

I beleive it's either a Bosch or Magnet Marelli part, fitted on the end of the manifold on the 1.8 . Not a big job to change yourself. Have a phone around befor going to Citroen for a replacement part or better still get the old one off and give it a clean using carb cleaner NOT BRAKE CLEANER!.
The wifes got a C4 I've got a ZX TD SX!!!!
