Bump stops photo?

Post by steelcityuk »

Hi,

Does anyone have a photo of what an healthy bump stop should look like on the rear of a Xantia. I'm unsure as to whether mine are OK, worn or what!

Thanks.

Steve.

There are actually at least two different kinds of bump stops for rear suspension arms, but I'm not sure if the difference is based on year or whether the car has Hydractive 2. (The latter I think)

Dad's 1994 non-Hydractive 2 has bump stops similar to those shown in the diagram as part 16 - a cone shaped block of solid rubber.

But my 1997 Hydractive 2 has completely different design stops which are a lot longer, cylindrical shaped with a sort of concertina finger arrangement on the end - very similar to the bump stops on the front struts.

If I had to guess I would say that it is designed as a progressive stop which touches lightly over a significant amount of travel to reduce acceleration squat, and then compresses hard near the travel limit like a normal bump stop.

Regards,
Simon

Thanks for the info. It looks as if mine are missing. Are these a dealer only part? I can't find them on GSF or Euro Parts.

Not a common service item - i.e. low turn-over. Dealer might be the only place finding them.
