2.1TD Xantia Aircon Refill point

Post by KP »

Does anyone know where it is on the 2.1TD Xantia's at all? R plate 98 if it makes any difference. I can find the charcoal filter and bis but the piping disapears down and im thinking the fill point is going to be the high pressure line from the compressor but the haynes book of porkies isnt very helpfull on this section :(

Also does anyone know somewhere near warrington that wont charge the earth to correct the hieght level of the Xantias as well?? I know its about 30mins or so from what ive been told but you need a 4 post lift to do it right.

Thanks in advance,

Will

PS could a mod PM me please as i have an old account i cant get into due to an email address change that i would like to delete.

Nah you dont really need a 4 post lift to be honest, me and my mate just used a couple of axle stands just incase the car went to low and it worked a treat.

Hi Will -

Changing account details is not a privilege of mod's. Only the admins can do that.
AlanS is our admin. Find his name - click on it - and mail/PM him about your account problems.

AlanS is BTW also our aircon specialist - by profession. But as all members of the admin/moderator team - he wont accept detailed technical questions in a mail/PM. That belongs right here on the forum 8)

Its ok i have found the fill point, a little caked in dirt mind but guess ill trundle down to halfrauds when i get a free minute after payday and get a refill can and look into it :) I believe its 300g that should be in the system? Can anyone confirm this?

And being in OZ means he will be a few hours out of synch with us lot.

See my post in the A/C section:

DIY Regas

First you need to establish if there is enough gas pressure remaining to pull the compressor in - if not, don't bother trying to refill it - it needs to go to a specialist to try and find the leak. If you're near Glasgow, you can use the gauge I've got to check remaining pressure (if any!).

Are you sure you've located the Low P port? (don't worry you can't attach the refill to the wrong one - they're different sizes).

900g is more like it in the system - but there will be some remaining if it's still working (even if only just like mine was). Make sure you get a refil tube with a gauge - without you will definitely be in the 'dark'.

Yeah ive been thinking of the kit from halfords as it will allow me to use it on my coupe as well.

There are two pipes coming into the compressor so im sure one will be the LP and the other the HP line.

At the minute it does seem to cut in but isnt cold. it cools a little but barely noticable and i cant see a reciept to say its ever been topped up so im sure with age as its a 97 or 98 R plate its well over due by now.

Thanks for teh 900g info matey :) Ill see how she goes with the gauge :)

The fill side is usually marked "S" for Suction and the other side "D" for discharge.
When running, the pipe leading from the "D" side will be hot and the "S" should be anything from air temp tp sweaty cool.

Capacities for Pug's are here http://www.peugeotlogic.com/workshop/ws ... /acgas.htm

Mine was filled three months ago by the Halfrauds can method, and is still going strong now.
