Todays prize goes to....nick! :D :D :D It was indeed the fuel heater. If I had known it had one that would been one of my first ports of call as I had the same trouble with my last CX, but I didn't so thanks again.

Not being in the mood to take the engine out, I just ran a new pipe from the filter direct to the end of the steel fuel line, (and left the old ones in :oops: ). Works a treat now. Thank you all for your suggestions, it could have been any of them. I now stink of diesel!
