Mixing Oils

Chaps,

Whilst clearing out my garage prior to house move I have uncovered a 1 ltr pot of GTX & 1ltr of GTD. For the last couple of years I have used semi synthetic in my 1.9TD and was wondering whether I could use these mineral oils as suitable top ups between oil changes.

The only thing I'd be wary of is if they were not similarly weighted. (ie) 20W50 against say 5W40
They apparently are compatable as regards mixing goes but may create problems if you mix thin against thick or vice versa.

This is always worth a read to put things into perspective.
