door pins

Post by davethewheel »

my m.o.t on my xantia is now due and one of the problems apart from a faulty abs sensor is the drivers door, the hinge has come away at the weld on the door and also the door handle is bust so i've got a Replacement door, i've tried to remove the door pins but they seem very tight i was wondering if anyone has any tips for removing them :)

Hi Dave, they unscrew, normal threads..

They can be really tight, and will break light duty Torx bits. Soak then for a while, hit them, use heat, and hopefully you will undo them. But rest assured, you need a decent set of bits..

good luck

You might need to go at them with a small set of vise grips to get them started off. Replacement pins are relatively cheap in the main dealers.

no they dont, the pins on a xantia are square & sit in a square rececss.you put it in the unlocked position & if you look at the base of the pin there is a small slot.use a small electrical screwdriver in the slot & push the small tab in there downwards, the pin will then lift off.
