ZX - DASH FACIA LIGHTS

Post by Zig »

Strange occurance happened the other night. The dash facia lighting and the centre consul clock light all failed at the same time?? I have so far checked the bulb in the clock and it appears aok and the clock is still operative. I have not attempted the dash dismantling to view the facia bulbs as I am confused why the clock is working but not the light?
Also, i have checked the fuses and no clues there! aok!!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated before I tackle the dash!
ps.all interior & exterior lights work ok including warning lights

Try the dimmer switch if fitted to the right of the steering column on the dasgboard. By moving the switch may solve the problem, or remove the switch and give it a quick clean in brake or carb cleaner, works a treat!

IF AFTER CLEANING ITs STILL NO JOY, REMOVE THE CONNECTOR AND TEST THE CIRCUIT WITH A CIRCUIT TESTER. OR IF NO CIRCUIT TESTER AVAILABLE CAREFULLY CONNECT THE CONNECTORS WITH A PIECE OF WIRE (CAREFUL NOT TO EARTH OUT) IF LIGHTS WORK THEN NEW SWITCH ( OR SAFELY CONNECT THE TWO WIRES TOGETHER AND INSULATE SAFELY LEAVE DISCONNECTED FROM SWITCH AND THEN PUT SWITCH BACK.) YOU NORMALLY NEVER USE THE DIMMER ANYWAY
LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKS?
