Xsara Electrical Gremlins

Post by Swervin_Mervin »

Hi all. We have a '98 VTS that is flickering the oil, stop and coolant warning light and the coolant guage is going haywire. It all happens under braking.

A quick assessment of the Haynes' wiring diagrams shows all, including the tail lights are common to each other through Fuse no.12. Does anyone know what I should be looking for in terms of potential solutions?

They don't appear to share a common earth btw.

Thanks

You sure theres not a lose earth screw on the back of the cluster?

One of the small screws that hold the plastic pcb to the back of the cluster & also used as an earth connection, Same thing happens to 406s & is a well known fault

Thanks for the tip Lee. Only had a quick check of all the levels in the dark last night. Will check that out later. I assume that's a dash out job?

I'm thinking the wire on the block to the oil temp sender. The MK 1's had this tiny thin brittle stuff that can break easily. Front of the block I think.
The wifes got a C4 I've got a ZX TD SX!!!!

Right, still not had a lookf but just been told that eh headlight warning buzzer is going off. This also runs off fuse 12.

Is getting to this pcb a dash out job?
