ZX 5 door tailgate lock

Hi All,

I have got to replace the tailgate lock on my ZX 5 door hatch with CL because the lift tag has broken of.
The BOL states that the rear wiper motor assembly must be removed first to allow the lock to be replaced.
However, looking at it, I think that there is enough room to replace it without removing the motor.
Has anyone done this job ?

If you only want to remove the outer plastic lock/tag bit its very easy. Open tailgate, remove plastic cover and you will find thet the plastic lock/tag is held in with a metal clip which runs in slots top and bottom of the lock. You can either pull it out by hand or tap it out with a length of wood or something.

Refitting as usual is the reverse.

Thanks for the info. I thought it did look possible, but the BOL seemed to indicate otherwise.
I shall be doing the job asap.
