Had one of my fans out over the weekend (406 turbo - same rad as diesel models, and fitted with air-con).
After loosening everything off at the top end (and removing the cross beam that holds it all steady), I managed to lever the fan unit away from the air-con condensor just enough to get my hand behind to undo the three fan securing nuts. I managed to wedge a suitable block of soft wood into the gap to ensure nothing snapped shut on my hand. I still ended up with arms that made me look like I'd tried to slash my wrists with a plastic party knife.
The top two nuts were 10mm. The bottom one was rotten enough to be any size you want to call it. I replaced them all with Nyloc's when refitting the fan.
The main problem I had was getting the socket to stay on the nut, as the protruding thread was a little on the long side.
Xantia 2.1TD...Couple of probally major problems...?
