xantai clarion radio problem
All, I have put my original clarion back in my xantia.. it was working perfectly when removed. It is one of the models fitted to Mark 2 xantias, with cd changer capability. It came straight up with the 4 central dashes. I pressed and held BAND and 4 more dashes joined those, underneath.
I left ignition on first position for 50-60 minutes and the CODE did not come up, then the BAND button gave the same 4 extra dashes...
?
Also, the flashing red light never came on (But this may be related to the radio not working)
what can i do? seems odd its gone wrong while out of car doing nothing

I had a problem like this when a incorrect code had been entered (several times) and the radio "locked". Advice from this forum suggested leaving it on for several hours until "code" was displayed. I removed radio and rigged it up with a spare battery in the the shed. I left it for three days (checking it twice a day) and was about to give up on it when eventually "code" appeared. I entered the correct code and it has been ok since. Good luck.

Simon many thanks but i have the manual
but you cant enter a code unless CODE is there first
the stereo is U/S
i may take the earlier advice and leave it hooked up for days and wait....
annoyingly, it came from my car and never ha a bad code entered so it shouldnt have gone into this stupid security mode anyway i think i should throw it

casso is quite correct!
I had the same problem, and also had to leave it hooked up for more than 3 days before CODE appeared again!
Each time you press band or turn off, the countdown starts again.
If you take it out of the car, you need to keep the main AND the memory terminals BOTH hooked to 12V+ and the casing (or the -ve terminal in the ISO block) to the -ve pole of a spare battery or other continuous 12V power source.
In my case my car batt was too low to leave it on the ACC position for 3 days. (Turning the radio on without the key being either in the ACC or IGN position runs the radio for about an hour then it turns itself off and you start the countdown again)
There is a long thread about this from a few months ago. The handbook is totally wrong when it says you only need to leave it for 1 hour.
