indicator relay location xantia Mark 2

Post by jgra1 »

folks i am being very silly here.. I am assuming my relays are above my fuses, after opening panel under dashboard?

The fuse board has a small red tag at one end, i thought if i pulled the the board would drop down to reveal the relays, but its not :(

what do i do?

Tried turning and pulling the red tag soon after getting the car, and since, but nothing happens. :?
The flasher is to the right of the fuse box.
The others are way below, to the right of the pedals.
The plastic and felt cover will have to come off.

Fixed relay clicking noise

Post by jgra1 »

Thanks Clogz..

Well, I gave up on the red toggle, and removed the whole trim and carpet under drivers dash, took all of a minute ;) and there she was, clicking away...

I tried the resistor change, but wasn't really making a difference :( dont know what was not going right..

anyway, cut a long short, I spent a another whole minute, and removed the indicator/light switch assembly. Took it apart (it comes apart in two ways, you need to open it from the front i.e. the nearest join too driver)
and exposed the indicator track, with its grime. Cleaned and squirted with 3 - in - 1 and all seems fine. Really much easier than trying the mess around on the circuit board of the relay.. although somehow not as satisfying...
Just pay attention to the rotating Driving/Fog lamp gearwheel interface and indictor/steering column peg (for cancelling indicators) when reasssembling..

Thanks for that, as my turn is coming soon. :?
It’s been clicking erratically at times of recently.
It did make it this far because on the few occasions that I removed the steering wheel for ignition switch fiddles, I always squirted the indicator switch and cancel mechanism, as I expected them to be areas of coming problems.

I reckon it will take you 20 mins :)

the hardest bit is prising the switch apart.. but its really not that hard.. be careful not to loose anything.. Do it on the kitchen table etc ;)
