Rear demister - resolder?

Post by vanny »

Yep you guessed it, the connector on the rear demister has come off (well it came off a while ago). Im told it can be 'easily' resoldered., anybody know if its possible. I remember someone did this and the windo exploded, ive tried other methods (liquid 'not very' metal, 2part epoxy resin and copper grease) all ahve failed. I dont really fancy getting the glass replaced (its got accidental damage cover and there are several ladders above the car).
How much is a windscreen likely to cost? Im gonna ask the insurance people very nicely to do it, its scratched to death, but if its cheep then ill have it done else where.

You need some conductive epoxy. Simply epoxy with lots of silver or aluminium dust filler. You could try RS, Farnell or a thermally conductive adhesive (which is also electrically conductive) from a PC supplier, particularly an "overclocking" specialist. Plenty on the web.
