Folks, some time ago I rebuilt my height corrector. I had a leak and was quite sure I had a punctured diaphragm. Sometime before that I had dissasembled the corrector partially, and had lost one of the flat diaphragm springs. When I came to the rebuild I fitted new diaphragms and carried on without the spring as i was in a rush. (MOT)
The spring has now turned up!
the car is almost behaving normally, but the suspension isnt really going down from fully up. If it is fully down and i set height to normal it goes up fine, just doesnt work the other way... Do you think this spring could help my situation? or is it just slightly seized parts? (I am going to refit it anyway, just wondering)
The car surely needs a bleed which I will do asap.

thanks
John

I would never expect a hydraulic component to function correctly - if you left out even the smallest "innocent looking" bit 8)
Your approach was indeed very pragmatic - lets get off for the MOT - now !
But please note : if you use the same approach once again overhauling other hydraulic components - it may be lethal - even to others than you or your family

Definately put the spring back in, it is critical to the proper operation of the height corrector, and is almost certainly the problem you notice...(I'm surprised it works reliably at all without it, as the two springs pushing against each other centre the height corrector shaft when its not under load..)
