folks I have no speedo drive, after a clutch change some time ago. I assumed i had damaged / disturbed wiring - but when i finally got around to looking at it, it seems the speedo drive main pinion isnt turning. as I understand it, this sits around the RH driveshaft, in a housing, and is plastic. It must have been disturbed when the driveshaft went back in, or it's lugs have been broken off, sound plausible? I cant really see what else it could be?
thanks
John

thanks both, I will remove the DShaft and the housing for the speedo drive and see what i find.
Malcolm, there is no movement of anything where the electric speed sensor sits, i.e. with that item removed, the worm drive that is supposed to turn it is stationary. I had both wheels off ground and car in gear, running - could feel nothing.
I did get a drill on the speed sender unit and got the speedo to read, so downstream of the Sender is all ok.
