Xantia instrument cluster lights

Post by Keith J »

The lights on my Xantia behind the dashboard are sometimes dim and sometimes okay. This is variable between different nights. Is there a separate voltage regulator for these that may be on it's way out. The main voltage of the car seems okay, and other lamps etc seem fine. I don't believe that they are dimmable, so I don't think it can be related to that.

May sound stupid, but your not just catching the dimmer with your leg under the steering column are you?

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware that they were dimmable (I haven't had the car very long) Doh! That's probably it.

Do you feel silly now?

You know the steering wheel is adjustable, looking under it there is catch you can open, and you can move it up, then you may not get any more disco lights in your dash.

It certainly does. After rectifying 2 broken hydraulic pipes (1 metal, 1 rubber) and doing the lower ball joint on one side, since I've had the car, it's nice to find something simple as a remedy to a problem.
