V6 Xantia Accumulator Sphere

Post by DHallworth »

The accumulator sphere on my new V6 Xantia is desparate to be replaced, pump ticks every 1,5 seconds.

I know this sphere is desparate to be done, but i haven't had time to look at it on the car.

Does anyone know where the accumulator is on the V6, and will a basic accumulator for a Xantia do from GSF?

Thanks for your help in advance guys.

David.

The accumulator sphere is the same on all Xantia's. IIRC its found on the front of the engine, the pipes running to/from it will be small ones whereas the Hydractive block (just behind the radiator) will have large bore pipes.

You might find it will pay you to invest in a sphere removing tool from GSF, they can be very tight. It will still cost you less than paying someone to do it.

Yes, it's attached to the front of the engine. I used a GSF one on mine and used the hammer and chisel method to remove the old one, though I'm not suggesting that you should do the same.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

I made my own tool to remove spheres. It worked perfectly on all 4 suspension spheres that I changed. I really would recomend getting a tool to anyone who intends to change a few of them. It grips them perfectly without any slipping off like a chain/strap wrench can do.

Hi deian

Chain moles are Useless when you get a PROPER tight sphere!

I've nearly in-i-alated my proper sphere removal tool with some of the spheres I've come across...

If you have some which remove easily you have been LUCKY!!

vety lucky. My rear ones were very tight. I don't think they had ever been off. The antisink is original as well as none of the rear ones are mentioned on any of the comprehensive service history.

The local guy said he'd do it for me for £25 as we've put a lot of work his way in the past. If it saves me struggling with it for the sake of £5 its worth it!!

Going in to get it done tomorrow morning.
