Height corrector link arm....BUST

Post by caeclyd2 »

I could not understand why my trusted Xant estate would not level out for the past couple of days. I went underneath to have a look and I found that the height adjuster is busted,
It is not the plastic link but the rod from the anti roll bar to the plastic link.
Can this small component be purchased from a stealer ??

Broken Clamp rod

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all, and caeclyd2

CAREFULL here now.... Theres a reason for it breaking!!! Obviously.

I've had two cars in the last month do this....

AND both were the same problem.. The complicated link unit that the plastic clip is attached to has "cezzzzed" / siezzed / seiced / how the hell do you spell it!! ))

There are TWO link arms on the unit, and on both my cars I had in it was NOT the one vertically, but the horizontal linkage that had "stopped working"... So .. Pleanty of WD40 and arm operating - after disconnecting the height rod and plastic clip, so it all moved nicely again.. Sourced a new clamp and rod, connected all up again and RESET THE HEIGHT and off they went, happy customers...

If you need more help, give us a shout..

Regards

Yes that thought had also crossed my mind. I thought that the plastic link would have come off/shattered under any strain from seized components.
I will take a closer look once I get the car over a pit/ramps this weekend.

Seized was not the word...more like solid !

Plenty of GT85 a few taps with a hammer, new control lever a few choice words and everything back to normal.

Thanks
