Xantia Aircon.

Post by Quackers »

My aircon is no longer cold, when you press the button for the aircon i hear the engine change tone.

I had it regassed july last year, surly it should not need regassing again already? I looked at the eye window thing under the bonnet, but i cannot remember if there should be bubbles or no bubbles going past the viewing window, as there is non.

Hmmm, you have bubbles and its cold. I have no bubbles and the aircon makes the air no colder. I think it must need a regas then :(

There should at least be a few small bubbles in the sight glass when the aircon is switched on.
Sight glass indications may be inconclusive:

If it needs regassing frequently, you probably have a leak somewhere, favourite is the compressor shaft seal, but it could be any of the pipe connections, its worth checking them all, or at least, all that you can get at!

Small picture, but still picture of the dryer bottle behind the left of the radiator, or somewhere further back, depending on the model.
The top sight glass is to see the flow of fluid, or bubbles, or froth, as the case may be.
The left one, I think, indicates the amount of moisture in the circuit.
It’s normally dark and transparent.
Here, it’s going opaque, meaning that there’s a fair bit of moisture in the system.
Mine looks worse than that, and it still puts out cold air.

Hope I got this right. :)
